Menu Plan

I’ve been dreading this upcoming week… the last full week of my maternity leave. 😦 I really enjoy my job, employer, and coworkers, but can I just say… American family leave policies are the worst!!! I’m thankful I’ve been able to be home with my baby for the first seventeen weeks of his life, but that’s still too short. 😦 This week is a practice run at daycare, with baby boy headed there a few days this week. I start back to work full time the day after Labor Day. We’ll see how it goes! Baby has been watched by his grandparents and at the church nursery and has done great in each situation… so fingers crossed he will do well at daycare too! I’m going to try to fill my alone time this week [what is that?!?] with a mix of fun and productive… make a few freezer meals, clean up a little bit of the messiness that has built up in our house this summer, treat myself to fancy coffee and lunch out… and try not to miss my baby too much. On that note, happy menu planning! Hope these suggestions help!

  1. Good luck with going back to work and the transition. Our leave policies do really suck…. It’s so hard. My husband was home for the first 2 weeks after the twins were born, but then had to go back to work and leave me alone with them (I cried and was terrified lol). It’s been OK though. My job was a grant-funded position, so I’m staying home with them for a while and then looking for a new job. Day care is so expensive too – the prices for two infants?! Crazy….

    1. oh, i’m sure! the transition honestly hasn’t been AS BAD as i thought, but there have definitely been some ups & downs. this is my 4th day back at work, and probably the hardest part is that i literally have no time for anything at night because baby wants to eat and be held and eat and eat. plus, he only sleeps when i am in the room so i have to go to bed when i put him down at night. it’ll be a game changer when he can go to sleep independently. the good part of this arrangement is that i really do get a good 8ish hours of sleep at night…but the bad part is that there’s none of that “free time.” except in the car…ha. hope you guys are getting into a good routine! i’ve probably said this before, but way to go on the twin front! i can’t imagine… 🙂
